This statement shows one of the underlining problems with the people who argue that flag burning should be outlawed. The flag is a symbol of this country, and in no way does burning the flag actually affect this country. Throughout the story, a handful of community members realize Miss Strangeworth is a bitter, insensitive woman, who is creating more evil in the neighborhood. Critical Analysis for Haci Guclu and Salih Guney- myassignmenthelp
Question: Discuss about theCritical Analysis for Haci Guclu and Salih Guney. Answer: Introduction In this article, the authors Haci Guclu and Salih Guney have presented the results of their study and analysis about the perceptions of the managers in using the different motivational techniques to increase the productivity of their employees. Different people in this organisation have different capabilities and it is one of the main jobs of a manager to employ the right motivational techniques which can help the employees realise their potential (Lunenburg, 2011). Article Question The question that the article explores is whether motivational techniques can actually be used to increase the productivity and efficiency of the employees and the organisation. My Viewpoint I agree with the authors that both efficiency and productivity are measurable traits which can be enhanced by using the right motivation as different people respond in dissimilar manner to distinct motivational factors and techniques. Efficiency and Productivity As studied by Reinholt, Pedersen, and Foss, the efficiency of an individual, is a measurable notion when it comes to the work and productivity of an individual in his organisational setup. Efficiency is a factor which helps people adapt to the changes in their work environment and make use of the different opportunities to utilise their talents in an optimum manner for the benefit of the organisation as well as personal satisfaction and gratification (Reinholt, Pedersen, and Foss, 2011). According to Yeh-Yun Lin, and Liu, in any organisation or any sector like the manufacturing sector, the efficiency of an employee is a culmination of a number of factors. It is a result of utilising the organisational resources like the raw materials, factors of production, capital investment, technology, and the human resources in the most optimum or the best possible manner to meet the objectives of the organisation successfully The efficiency of any organisation is directly related to the productivity of the employees (Yeh-Yun Lin, and Liu, 2012). According to Springer, the efficiency of the employees is determined by two main factors, the first is the intra-business factors like the organisational structure, systems, equipment and many more. The second is the extra business factors which consist of managerial practices, business approach, and other such influences. Enhancing the efficiency of the employees through different motivational techniques is the key to business development and growth (Springer, 2011). In this article, the authors point out that while the management has a number of tools to measure the efficiency of the organisation and the productivity of its employees, it is the job of the managers to analyse their strategy periodically and try to understand from the results of the analysis, the reasons behind the low efficiency in the organisation. According to the research by Cherian, and Jacob, many factors affect the motivation level of the employees which directly impacts their productivity and efficiency at work negatively. These factors include, the unsafe working environments, barriers between the employees and employers, lack of effective communication between employees, inconsistent pay scales, lack of job satisfaction, lack of innovation and initiative, lack of growth opportunities, and much more (Cherian, and Jacob, 2013). Motivation As Muogbo surmises from his study that Motivation is not just a psychological tool but is a very important business tool for the organisations in the competitive world today. With an increase in globalisation and rising competition from the local, national, and international companies it has become the need of the companies to produces their services and products at the lowest cost while maintaining the quality. This requires motivating the employees to use their diverse skills and directing their efforts as a team towards the organisations vision (Muogbo, 2013). According to the study done by Herzberg, Mausner, and Snyderman, efficiency and motivation are correlated in all the aspects of a persons life. Motivation is the factor which encourages an individual to try and achieve his best and strive for efficiency and excellence in all walks of his life whether they are personal or work related. The factors which motivate one person may be different from the factors that inspire another. These motivational factors stem from the basic needs of different individuals. While for some people economic considerations are the motivating factor, for others it could be personal gratification, growth and development, skill enhancement, and many other such factors (Herzberg, Mausner, and Snyderman, 2011). Over the period of time, several scholars have proposed different theories of motivation which have tried to address the motivational factors for different people. The most prominent among these theories are the Maslows Hierarchy of needs theory which addresses the five layers of needs pyramid for every individual, the Alderfers ERG theory which addresses the existence; relatedness; and growth in an individual, the Herzbergs Two-factor theory, McClellands need theory, Edwin Lockes Goal-Setting theory, and much more. All these theories try to analyse the behaviour of individuals under the ever changing circumstances and the change in the factors which motivate people to perform better with the change in their circumstances (Chiang, and Hsieh, 2012). Cerasoli, Nicklin, and Ford, in their analysis reflect that motivation in employees can be inspired by extrinsic factors and also by intrinsic factors. The extrinsic motivators are the material gains and tangible rewards like monetary compensation, promotion, benefits, and other such factors associated with a job role. But many scholars hold the view that while extrinsic motivators are powerful tools but the effects of this kind of motivation generally do not last for a very long time as these are imposed from the outside (Cerasoli, Nicklin, and Ford, 2014). The extrinsic factors are important in the initial stages of an individuals work life till his basic economic and financial needs are met (Lazaroiu, 2015). The intrinsic motivation refers to the inspiration that a person derives from within himself. This kind of motivation moves above the financial and economic goals of a person and refers to the objective of finding happiness, satisfaction, learning, self- actualisation, and social needs of an individual. Intrinsic motivators encourage a person to perform a task or an activity not for some external reward but for the personal satisfaction of completing a task in an efficient manner (Cerasoli, Nicklin, and Ford, 2014). Selecting Motivational Techniques to Increase Productivity According to the research by Gerhart, and Fang, the biggest challenge for the managers is to identify the motivational factors which can be applied to their organisational culture for different employees and use them effectively to increase the levels of productivity and efficiency of the employees, in a manner that is beneficial both to the employees and the organisation. The managers are constantly striving to find motivational techniques which help the employees in achieving the vision and mission of the organisation while fulfilling their personal goals at the same time (Gerhart, and Fang, 2015). As the authors say the managers have to understand that what works to motivate one employee many not work in the same way for another employee. For example, an unskilled worker may be motivated by good wages but for a skilled worker monetary compensation may not be the only motivating factor. For a skilled worker, the opportunity to grow and enhance their skills may be a bigger motivator (Latham, 2012). Along with these factors, while dealing with the workers, the attitude and behaviour of the managers make a lot of difference to the motivation levels of the employees. As proposed by Chiang, and Hsieh, in the changing business dynamics today employee participation in the key decision making processes of the company, especially the decisions which directly impact the performance of the employees, is very crucial to the success of the organisation. It is essential for an organisation to value their human resources and address the employee needs along with the goals of the company. A positive organisational culture acts as a big motivating factor for the employees and directly affects their efficiency and productivity (Chiang, and Hsieh, 2012). Organisational Analysis In this article, the authors have evaluated the motivational techniques and the effects of these techniques on the workers of a manufacturing unit. Here, the authors find out that that the employees respond differently to the different motivational techniques due to many factors like the age, gender, skill set, education level, basic requirements, and many more. The education level makes much difference in the way the workers perceive and understand the motivational techniques employed by the management. The better-educated people respond much more positively to the intrinsic motivation as they can understand the difference it would make to their work, life, and the rewards that would follow as a result of productive work (Lazaroiu, 2015). Conclusion The research and studies carried out to study the correlation between organisational productivity and the efficiency and motivation levels of the employees suggest that the human resource management of the company and the organisational culture play a very important role in shaping the behaviours and attitudes of the employees. A professional growth and personal goals satisfaction from the job role hold an equal importance for the employees at all the levels in the organisation. A manager who can understand this and generate a motivated workforce will be rewarded with a more efficient and productive organisation giving his business a definitive edge of competitors and rivals in the business world today (Yeh-Yun Lin, and Liu, 2012). Population Essay Example
Population Essay While Population: 485 centers on several different themes throughout the book, I chose to focus my interpretation on the sense of belonging the author, Michael Perry, seems to crave all through the literature, and more specifically, during chapters one and seven. In chapter one, titled Jabowskiââ¬â¢s Corner, he opens the door to his journey by bringing us to the small town of New Auburn, Wisconsin. This is the place he belongs. He introduces many of the people of New Auburn in every chapter, but I chose chapter seven because he describes the diverse groups of individuals that make up the town and refers to them as ââ¬Å"My People,â⬠which is also the title of the chapter. These are the people that make up the town, the people he belongs with. I feel his love for the land, in this small Wisconsin town, is deeply expressed in both chapter one and in chapter seven. Another association the two chapters have is the idea that to truly feel that comfort and pleasure of belonging in the place where you live, love for the land may not be enough. Michael Perry, the author and main character, has returned to the place he calls home after being away for twelve years. He left New Auburn after graduating high school. While away, he earned a bachelorââ¬â¢s degree from nursing school and worked a couple of jobs as a nurse. He was frustrated by the fact that he didnââ¬â¢t know how to extricate someone safely from a smashed car or splint a dislocated elbow. This was not his place and he wanted more. He enrolled in an emergency medical technician class and passed the National Registry exam. He then began his career as an EMT and worked part-time for a private ambulance service for five years in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. While he gained a lot of experience, it just wasnââ¬â¢t where he felt he belonged. He lived in New Auburn as a child and teenager. It has been nineteen years since he graduated high school and moved away, but now, he has returned as an adult. After experiencing life on his own and having matured, he now views the town and its people from a different, more grown up perspective and is looking for a way to re-connect with the community of New Auburn. ââ¬Å"Twelve years Iââ¬â¢ve lived away from here, and what I missed- what I craved- was the lay of the land. A familiar corner, a particular hill, certain patches of trees. I returned, and the land felt right. The land takes you back. All you have to do is show up. Finding your place among the people, now, that is a ifferent proposition. â⬠(p. 111). He wants to gain back that comforting sense of belonging he once felt from the town he grew to know and love. ââ¬Å"In a place from the past, I am looking for a place in the present. This, as they say, is where my roots are. The trick is in reattaching. â⬠(p. 3). Michael decides to join the New Auburn fire department as a volunteer fire fighter. He describes several incidents, in great detail, that he has encountered since starting there seven years ago. I find it interesting that he worked for over five years as an EMT in Eau Claire, and just vaguely shares one story about a call he responded to the first day on the job. He does not give many specifics about the accident, the people involved, or the location it happened. I guess because he is not connected with these people or this town, nor does he give the impression he desired to. When he tells a story of New Auburn, or any one of its people though, it is obvious that there is a lot more emotion and meaning to it and he really paints a clear picture for the reader. In chapter one, Michael describes the incident he faced seven years ago, just after he joined the New Auburn fire department. Tracy Rimes, a young high school student, had been horribly injured in a car wreck. His mother, also an EMT, is there, along with several other volunteer fire fighters. His sister is there too. She is only a year younger than Tracy and attends school with her. Tracyââ¬â¢s father is there, who was once the chief of the department. The location of the accident is Jabowskiââ¬â¢s corner, which is named after the family who owns the farm at that bend of the road. He goes into precise details of the scene, pulling you into the story and leaves the imprint of just how close this community is. ââ¬Å"â⬠¦ she is delicate, and frightened, and conscious, and most of all, she is one of us. â⬠(p. 12). Everyone is somehow, someway connected with one another in this small town. When tragedy strikes, these people can set aside their differences, team up and come together as a community, for their community. Michael is doing the same line of work as he did while he was gone, only now he does it with meaning and with passion. The constant is doing what he loves, the difference is doing it for ââ¬Å"his peopleâ⬠and in the place he belongs. The way Michael describes the town in chapter one is so vivid and pure, it makes me wish I had a place to go as beautiful and meaningful to me, as New Auburn is to him. This is where he belongs. Part of belonging to a small town though, means relating to the people living in it. Belonging; acceptance as a natural member or part. A sense of belonging. In chapter seven, he talks about the different groups of people in New Auburn. ââ¬Å"How does one negotiate the terms of belonging? â⬠(p. 08). There is a very broad spectrum of ways to be a part of something or having a place with a certain group of people. Throughout chapter seven, Michael observes the different types of commonalities between the people of New Auburn. Thereââ¬â¢s a sliding scale to which a person considers their loyalties. ââ¬Å"The standards against which you are measured are dependent on the milieu. â⬠(p. 110). He mentions some of the things he has overheard one person frequently say about another. For example, ââ¬Å"Sheââ¬â¢s quite a worker,â⬠ââ¬Å"Heââ¬â¢s a helluva shot,â⬠or ââ¬Å"That boy can knock the stuffing out of a softball. (p. 110). One phrase, he says, that is not heard so often is ââ¬Å"he crafts a lovely metaphor. â⬠I think he is implying that although he is a great writer and finds joy in writing, it is not what is going to connect him to the people of this town. He had to find another way. He compares the community to a collection of characters that you canââ¬â¢t force your way into. He has learned that your place develops over time. Michael talks about how the world has changed and we find it tougher to focus our loyalties and know how to belong or want to belong. In regards to fighting fire, he loves the idea of neighbors coming together and is thrilled to be part of the effort. ââ¬Å"It feels good. It feels right. It feels like I belong. â⬠(p. 123). Joining the fire department gave him a point of entrance back into the community. ââ¬Å"I began to meet my neighbors at the invitation of the fire siren. â⬠(p. 112). Everyone wants to be a part of something, to belong somewhere, and whether it is by occupation, hobbies, favorites, interests, politics, or religion, the people of New Auburn all share at least one common ground- community. When the fire siren wails, two dozen of my neighbors and I act as one, on behalf of the community- my people acting on behalf of our peopleâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ (p. 114). This is the comparison and relation I found between chapters one and seven of Michael Perryââ¬â¢s memoir Population: 485. In chapter one, he shared his story of Tracy. He continues, throughout the book, to recall this memory often. This day has more meaning to him than just the loss of a member of New Auburn. While the day turned out to be a tragedy, it also marks a very important turning point of his return. I began to realize how this fire department was a means of reentry, of rediscovering the place I had left a decade before, of recapturing my sense of place one tragedy at a time. I was realizing this service is a privilege, a way to weave myself back into the fabric of a place. Today we had tragedy, but it was our tragedy, and we dealt with it not only as public citizens, but also as friends and neighborsâ⬠¦ To feel at home is a rare, precious thing, and I began to feel at home that day. â⬠(p. 16). Michael Perry is a great example of someone who really has passion for where he lives and for what he does. He has found his place in this world, his calling. He is a gifted writer and fire fighter, and knows what it is to truly be a part of something prodigious. Some of his neighbors he knows from his childhood, some from working with them at the fire department, and some from fire or emergency calls. Whatever the means of contact, he finds a way to connect with each and every one of his acquaintances and has a meaningful story to tell about them all. While some of his stories give feelings of happiness, a lot end in tragedy. To be able to find contentment and peace in both is a rare, magnificent characteristic. He has a wonderful perspective on life and takes time to celebrate the things most people take for granted. He treasures the land and absorbs the wonderful gifts it has to offer. After Michael joins together his love for New Auburn and his connection with his neighbors the feeling is complete. It changes the sense of being at home, to feeling at home. This is where he belongs.

Sarah Baartman essay Essays
Sarah Baartman essay Essays Sarah Baartman essay Paper Sarah Baartman essay Paper The San, who were a hunting ND foraging people, did not believe in ownership, as lived off the land. The Shook who were nomadic herders did believe in possession and had herds of cattle and sheep, but because they were nomadic, this meant they had land of their own (although others Shook clans could get permission from the local chiefs to use their resources). The Europeans (Dutch) did however believe in private land ownership. Where the Dutch believed in private land ownership and Isakson did not, this led to conflicts between the two groups, because the land that was granted to the free burghers (historical German title acquired by family descendants of the ruling class in German speaking towns) and Hugeness was land used by the shook for cattle grazing and furthermore this put a limitation to water access, and the wild animals that were hunted by the Isakson were rapidly becoming scarce. The difference between the Dutch and Isakson were shown in Sarah Barmans life was by the fact that she was sold as a slave to a Dutch framer, where no more was she free but rather property owned. This showed the vast difference between the two groups. The Isakson believed in a supreme being who controlled over their daily life ND elements of the environment. This god was worshipped through rituals and small sacrifices. In counterpart to this god there was an evil deity they believed in, that brought about illness death and misfortune to the world. This difference between good and evil overlapped other areas of the Isakson life. Dance was an important part of their culture and it altered in states of consciousness to gain information on how to heal people or a remedy to a social evil. The sun and moon were also aspects of the supreme deity, as full and new moons were important for rites and dancing. One could say that the Isakson were a very superstitious group of people. Holland during this time was undergoing the protestant reformation meaning the Dutch were moving away from Catholicism and into Protestantism were faith and the practice of Protestantism are founded on the principles of the reformation, especially in acceptance of the bible as the solo source of revelation, in justification by faith alone and in all universal hood of all the believers. [www. Defenestration. Mom/protestant] Barmans life once she was in Europe after being sold to Alexander Dunlop showed the huge difference teen the Isakson and Dutch, to the Shook dance was very important them, but Dutch use their traditions via Sarah Barman for entertainment. The Dutch also disregard what was not Christianity as savage and uncivilized. Were the Isakson respected all people and the Dutch said they did (because it Was the bible they followed) they contradicted themselves by not respecting Sarah Barmans humanity. E ke said in the previous paragraph the Isakson respected all people believed that everyone was equal, and that they were no more important than the earth nor the animals. There is evidence that within their own society as they respected those above them in both society and authority. Though it is also evidently clear that the Dutch did not share the same view with the Isakson that all people were equal, as they saw no problem with killing the Isakson at their will, and as it came to Jan Van Ribbed saw no fault in having them stuffed and displaying in his homes as decoration. This clearly states the immense difference between the Dutch and Isakson. It is evident with Sarah Barman, where in the Isakson society she was respected and treated equally and in Europe she was given no respect what-so-ever and displayed for other peoples interests, because her anatomy was different to women in Europe (she had overly large genitals). She was exhibited like an animal; this stated exactly what the Europeans thought of Africa (they were backward uncivilized and backwards). Within the Dutch community there were both women respected and disrespected. Those that were respected tended to be the wives that stayed at home, looked after the children, kept the household in order and the husband happy. The ones that were disrespected were prostitute and brittle- aids. Repeating again that Isakson woman where on the same par as the men. They were treated and respected in the same manner. Sarah Barman is an example of the vast different between the novo groups. Where she was once respected and accepted, she was no discriminated, exploited and once the Europeans were done with her she was forced prostitution and alcoholism, this leading her to dying from sexual transmitted diseases on a street in Paris. From here on her skeleton and the parts the Europeans were interested in were preserved and kept in the Muse De loomed in pairs. The European social structure was followed upon the great chain of being, which meant those with status and wealth dominated society and man dominated above animals and the earth. God was above all of this and the animals were below the human. Servants were lowest level for the humans. It was eve rear for a person to move out of their positions in this hierarchical society. The San were opposite to this, due to being the hunter-gather society every person within the clan were on equal levels. The Shook were similar to the Dutch, by the fact that they were also hierarchal society were the loathe had servants. The onl y different was that their servants were in the formed of labor were they were paid and allowed to move out of the position of servitude. Sarah Barman express this difference to a substantial degree because once she Was in the Europeans possession, she was never able to leave her servitude position. Where within the Shook community she would have. There was a great difference between the Dutch and Isakson when it comes to their entertainment. Within the Isakson culture their entertainment came from oral traditions, dances and other physical activities. The Isakson entertained for the up lifetimes of the entire society.

Bible And Truth And Reconciliation - Essay Example She later went on to receive a graduate Degree in Instructional Design and managed to work as a Training and Development Specialist for Fortune 500 companies for several years (Richardson, 23).à Juliana Taimoorazy own unique story as a refugee has contributed in making her a strong leader and an unshakable voice for Christians living in Iraq today. Having had to flee Iran in 1989 due to the then religious persecution, she was smuggled into Switzerland where she spent seven days in a monastery in Zurich after which was smuggled again into Germany where she sought religious asylum. She later came to America as a refugee in the December of 1990 after spending one year in Germany. Taimoorazy later attended Northeastern Illinois University and began mentoring young Christian women arriving in Chicago from refugee camps in Turkey and Syria. This is the experience that led her to the formation of the Iraqi Christian Relief Council, a nonprofit organization that cooperates with other U.S. entities in educating Americans about the religious and ethnic cleansing occurring to Christians in Iraq. The groupâ⬠²s major objective has been in raising awareness, obtaining financial assistance and requesting prayers for the Iraqi Christians (Richardson, 47).à In the year 2006, Juliana made a commitment to become a greater voice and advocate for the persecuted church in Iraq and refugees who have since resettled in the United States. Through her organization, which she formed in 2007, she has managed to help thousands of displaced Christians throughout Iraq with food, shelter, and medicine. Through her activism and several media appearances on Fox News, News Max, and other several Christian radio programs, she has tirelessly managed to promote the cause of the Assyrian Christians throughout the world (Jackson and Claire, 24).à Christian persecution has been a major issue in most of the Islamic states.Ã

3D Graphing Engine Term Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 10000 words
3D Graphing Engine - Term Paper Example Nowadays geometry engines are called Vertex Shaders since they are programmable and can run so-called (vertex) shader programs to compute and animate the geometry of a scene. Every vertex that needs to be calculated can contain a lot of information, such as an x, y, z coordinate (a 3-dimensional position), texture coordinates, Normal Information (what direction the vertex faces), an identifier (which triangle it belongs to), Skinning parameters, lighting values or just about anything else. However, vertex processing alone does not result in a visible picture.à So as to see all the triangles made up of all the vertices that the vertex shaders have calculated, they need to be colored. Certainly, the invisible object that is a result of the geometry processing needs to be ââ¬Å"wallpaperedâ⬠so it becomes visible.à To be able to do this, the polygons need to be converted into pixels; this is done during the triangle setup. The pixels are then dealt with in the pixel shaders and pixel pipelines. The color value of a pixel is looked upon a texture; this texture exists in graphics memory as a bitmap that was designed by the 3D artist.à Textures can be available in different resolutions. Higher resolution textures look better; however, use more memory space and more memory bandwidth than lower resolution textures.à For far away objects, this would not only result in wasted processing cycles, but it could also lead to display anomalies. As a result of this, t extures are usually available in different resolutions.à If textures of different resolutions are combined on one object then this is referred to as mip-mapping. This mip-mapping can produce visible borders between the two textures of different resolutions, called mipmap banding.à Moreover, this mipmap banding can be minimized using different filtering techniques. Filtering means that for every pixel to be colored, more than one texel on the texture is looked up and the average is calculated and applied to the pixel.Ã

The Kennedy and Oswald Assassinations Essay Example for Free
The Kennedy and Oswald Assassinations Essay On a beautiful autumn day in Dallas 1963, President John F. Kennedy arrived in for what could have been a hostile greeting.à Unofficially, it was a campaign trip, but officially, the trip was meant to put out fires and garner support for a soon to come Presidential campaign the following year.à The Presidential party started in Ft. Worth, TX where the reception was cordial and warm, and then, after a brief speech by the President, boarded the plane for what would be a short but fateful trip to Love field in Dallas. à à à à As was true in Ft. Worth, the reception in Dallas was cordial and warm, filling the young President and his host with pleasure and confidence.à Mrs. Connelly, wife of Texas Governor John Connelly, was later to remark to the President, You cant say Dallas doesnt love you Mr. President.à After de-planning in Dallas, the entourage loaded into cars for the next Presidential address.à The party moved from Love Field into Dallas, towards downtown and the Texas School Book Depository, past the building and towards an underpass when three, perhaps four shots rang out, two hitting the President and one hitting Governor Connelly. à One bullet missed the entourage.à The number of bullets fired has never been clear, but one bullet, eventually labeled the magic bullet, was said to have struck the Governor, exited his body before hitting the President.à Whatever, the case, the second bullet to hit the young leader delivered the mortal blow, knocking the statesman backwards and to his left.à Although the brain damage indicates that JFK never knew what his himââ¬âbrain matter splattered over the accompanying motorcycle copsââ¬âthe President was not pronounced dead until after valiant efforts to revive him at Parkland Memorial Hospital. à à à à In an era when television went off the air between 11 PM and 1 AM and most people had black and white television sets, the three news networks remained on the air 24 hours as a grief stricken, startled nation kept abreast of event in Washington, DC and every detail about the assassination came in.à Anything that could be said and told about the Kennedys was, and whatever could be learned about the alleged assassin was reported.à As a shocked nation tried to make sense of the senseless tragedy, and a Camelot myth took hold, Americans stayed glued to their television sets throughout Saturday and the networks remained on throughout the night for a second night. à à à Sunday morning, many Americans went to their places of worship, prayed for the First Family and prepared to lay their fallen leader in state in the Capitol Rotunda before laying him to rest on Monday.à Sunday was a bright, crisp, cold day in Washington, unlike the cloudy and cool but not cold Friday of the assassination.à The beauty of the day did not betray the next shock in store for the nation.à Almost exactly 48 hours after the Presidents assassination, with most Americans wondering why this tragedy had occurred, answers would be pushed further away as the alleged assassin was himself assassinated and a grieving nation became even more stunned. à à à à The second assassin was Jack Ruby, a businessman, night club owner and small time hustler with ties to organized crime.à Theories as to why Ruby cut down Oswald included that, like the nation as a whole, Ruby was grief stricken, but it is also a mystery how he gained access to the area where this second assassination occurred. à In interviews during the days after the two assassinations, Ruby acknowledged on film that other individuals were behind his actions, but gave no names and only made a somewhat off-handed comment indicating that information about the Kennedy assassination wouldnt be revealedââ¬âthe public would never learn the truth.à The indication was not so much that Ruby didnt want Oswald to reveal the truth, but rather that individuals behind Ruby wanted information hidden.à Oswald, it seems, was set up.à Indeed, there was evidence that the initial attempt to cut down the President was to have been made a few days earlier in Florida, but the Presidents trip was cancelled. à à à à After the two assassinations, many unusual events took place.à The Presidents autopsy was flawed, information was hidden from the Warren Commission and, in many respects, it appeared as though even the US Government did not want the truth about the assassination revealed.à Blacks felt that the President had been cut down because of his support for Civil Rights, and even the Presidents brother, Attorney General Robert Kennedy, appears to have made efforts to hold back the truth of the assassination.à Perhaps the most interesting idea about the assassination of the President, one that seldom comes out, connects the assassination with an earlier assassination in South Vietnam barely a month before the President was cut down. (OLeary Seymour, 2003; Weisberg, 1984). President Nguyen Van Thieu, leader of South Vietnam, was assassinated in a coup only a month after he had unseated then-president Ngo Dinh Diem in 1963 and only about a month before President Kennedyââ¬â¢s assassination.à Madame Thieu, in the US at the time, felt that President Thieu would not have been cut down if President Kennedy had supported her husband, support she felt would have prevented the coup against him.à The theory goes that Madame Thieu put out a contract on the President that organized crime figures knew about but that was carried out by hired killers.à The mob refused to make the hit. à à à à While this idea has seldom been discussed, it appears that even Attorney General Kennedy realized that actions he took against organized crime and events in Vietnam had ultimately led to the murder of his brother.à Jack Ruby suggested on film that the nation would not learn the facts behind the assassination.à Events after the assassination led to government cover-ups, involvement of organized crime and even to efforts by the Warren Commission to ignore the facts, but these events only added to the confusion surrounding the assassination.à Some have noted that President Kennedy intended to cut back on US involvement in Vietnam had he lived, and the war itself was not a big issue in the US at that time. South Vietnamese officials did not want the US to remove its military advisors, but part of the US retreat from Vietnam would have involved ending support for President Thieu.à This left the South Vietnamese President open to assassination.à Attorney General Kennedy had urged that his brother scale back efforts in and support for South Vietnam, and realized that these efforts had ultimately led to his brothers demise.à So, even the Attorney General, brother of the President and the chief law enforcer of the US, decided that it was politically (regarding world politics) best not to openly pursue the events behind his brothers assassination. à à à à Jack Rubys ties to organized crime, perhaps, did not render him privy to all of the details behind the cover-up of the US Presidents assassination, but he did have enough information to suspect that Oswald was a patsy for a larger conspiracy.à While most people suspected the cover-up probably did not involve the US Government (why would the government, including the Attorney General, cover up details of the Presidents assassination), the possible South Vietnam aspect of the Kennedy assassination answers many difficult questions.à It explains why President Johnson and Attorney General Kennedy wanted the investigation of the US Presidents assassination resolved quickly, why so many government, medical and other abnormalities seemed apparent and even the ties to organized crime. à à à à Judging from the available information, Lee Harvey Oswald clearly did not assassinate President Kennedy.à Based on a taped police interview released the day after Oswaldââ¬â¢s assassination, Jack Ruby appears to have known this.à Evidence from investigation of the assassination confirms that Oswald could not have assassinated the young Chief Executive.à Attempts to duplicate the assassination feat demonstrated that none of the expert sharpshooters could hit a moving vehicle from that distance, and Oswald was a poor marksman. The bullet that caused the fatal shot knocked the Presidentââ¬â¢s body backwards and to his left, a difficult feat for a bullet coming from behind the President.à Eyewitness accounts confirm that shots did come from the grassy knoll to the right and slightly in front of the Presidentââ¬â¢s car.à This evidence was ignored by the Warren Commission.à And there is evidence that a fourth bullet was fired from one side of the President.à Clearly, even if Oswald was involved, his involvement could not account for all of these strange details. à à à à The little known Vietnam connection is based mostly on the research and ideas of Bradley S. OLeary, author of Triangle of Death:à The Shocking Truth About the Role of South Vietnam and the French Mafia in the Assassination of JFK.à It accounts for many of the mysteries behind the assassination.à If this Vietnam connection theory is correct, both Lee Harvey Oswald and Jack Ruby were patsies, the difference being that Ruby realized he was being used (perhaps not entirely clear on who was using him) whereas Oswald did not.à President Johnson and Attorney General Kennedy realized that they could not openly acknowledge a South Vietnam connection in President Kennedys assassination because it could possibly turn the wrath of the country against South Vietnamese leaders, so the appearance of cover-up by US government, various branches of government and some involvement in a cover-up by the mob seem reasonable. While mob hired guns probably pulled the trigger to assassinate the President, the mob itself was not involved.à Hired killers just kill for a living.à They take the job or refuse it, but they do so as independent killers.à Therefore, the Kennedy assassination was not a mob job, but a contract from a family member of the murdered South Vietnamese leader.à Ruby probably did not realize this fact and mob officials, some of whom seem to have known about the assassination before hand, had a vested interest in seeing that the government and the people did not hold them responsible put heat on the mob underworld for cutting down a President who had been popular around the world outside of his politics. à à à à If any of these ideas regarding a South Vietnam connection in the assassination are correct, then it is feasible, even probable, that there really was a cover-up conspiracy, in the interest of national security, at the highest levels of government, including the Attorney General, in the JFK assassination.à The cover-up was an effort to avert the appearance of an international conspiracy on the part of the US or South Vietnam in connection with the death of the US President. It is not likely that Ruby knew the details, but he probably knew enough to have been aware of a cover-up involving the mob, to have known that Oswald was a patsy and, perhaps, to have wondered if he himself might have been one.à Perhaps these ideas are wrong, but this possible South Vietnamese connection explains many gray areas that have surrounded President Kennedys assassination over the years.à In this case, the full details of the story, if true, will probably never be released. Frankenstein Essay example -- essays research papers
What qualifies a creature to be a monster? When the movie Frankenstein came out, monsters were usually big and scary animals that terrified everyone that walked in their path. They were creatures that generally behaved monstrously, doing things that were against society norms and had no consideration for the safety of others. Perhaps looking beyond the physical appearance of a ââ¬Å"monsterâ⬠and just looking at their actions one might see Dr. Frankenstein as a monster himself. Frankenstein was a story about a man who created an individual which led his life to failure and death, because of his desire to play which nature, and attempting the role of God. The movie Frankenstein explores the consequences of what happens when man tries to play God and chases his ambition blindly. Victor Frankenstein became very involved in his work to create a being out of dead body parts. The doctor had the desire to achieve something that no scientist has ever done before: to give life to a being through science, not human nature. With this pursuit of knowledge, not only did Victor isolate himself from society but also from those who loved him, such as his fiancà ©e Elizabeth and his father. However, it is with this knowledge and ambition, that winds up destroying him and those closest to him. His project he felt would better human kind and possibly make a name for himself, which is ironic because he brought only evil to society and death to his name. Frankenstein is so caught up in his work and his yearning to be remembered for all time that he does not think about what will happen after life is breathed into this being. After his creation comes to life, he refuses to accept his obligation as the creator to his creation. He does not care for it, shelter it, provide it with food or love, nor teaches the creation. When realizing how to actually make his creation work he found out just how evil and strong his ââ¬Å"monsterâ⬠truly was. By bringing this creation to life; a destructive being that he had no control over, he doomed his own life and his intentions. Dr. Frankenstein was blinded by the fact that he was unable to foresee the effects that a creature could never be fully accepted into the human race. He was ultimately haunted by his own creation. Yet is it his monsterââ¬â¢s fault that he doesnââ¬â¢t know right from wrong, or is it Dr. Frankensteinââ¬â¢s fault? Frankenstein is called the creato... ... just a phase, hoping he could get over his work and forget about his creation and all the havoc he had caused. But unfortunately he couldnââ¬â¢t, the monster haunted him and eventually ruined him. What was once a sought after dream, was now a nightmare. There would be only one solution;to kill the monster. But was the creation really the monster? To the society and Victor he was but to the viewer, he was only a helpless creator who lost his way. Victor Frankenstein shows that experimenting with the work of God or nature is immoral and will only end in corruption. No one can play God. The movie shows that a person who chases notoriety for his or her own personal intentions may find the consequences of their actions to be truly demoralizing, causing him to become the monster more than his creation. His faults in his creation lead to his demise. Work Cited 1. Shelly, Mary. Frankenstein. Penguin Group. London, England. 1992. 2. Frankenstein. Produced by Carl Laemmle Jr. Perf. Lewiss Next
The power of the internet has catapulted the information boom among different societies since its emancipation. Its capabilities and power has shifted the realm of information access and potentials not only to several professionals but also to ordinary individuals. With this, such power has been affecting different practices and ideas that are often emanate direct and/or indirect outcomes. As information becomes more and more open to the public, the The book of Lewiss entitled ââ¬ËNextââ¬â¢ seeks to cater the unexpected occurrences and events that the Internet boom has created in societies. Such idea can be associated and compared to the story of the ââ¬Å"Emperorââ¬â¢s New Clothesâ⬠. With such book and Hanââ¬â¢s Christian Andersonââ¬â¢s short story, several overlapping ideas can be observed and seen. One is that there are instances of the relevant and current situations that are taken advantage by people due to societyââ¬â¢s tolerance to such actions. (Yourdon, p.1) argues that ââ¬Å"Lewis is obviously aware of the collapse of the dot-com stock market, and the backlash caused by that collapse; indeed, he argues that many of us have become so jaded and cynical that we're missing the deeper and long-lasting impact of the Internet.â⬠Such idea also applies in the other story wherein citizens know that the emperor is addicted to changing his clothes every time and tolerates such idea. Commenting on this overlapping situation, it can be argued that no good true idea or scene lasts forever. Every action or situation has their corresponding loopholes that will take its toll in the future. Yes, there are positive benefits of these ideas in the promotion of something important however; there will come a time that such actions and ideas will become weak or vulnerable to different attacks left and right. Such issues have been elaborated by Lewis in his book and at the same time the two scoundrels who took advantage of the emperorââ¬â¢s addiction to clothes.à There must be continuous improvements and changes so as to prevent such things from happening. On the other hand, there seems to be a difference between the two. Since the introduction of the internet, it has become a necessity among individuals. This continuously applies up to now, as societies become more and more connected. The possibility of changes in this area remains to be difficult due to societies continued tolerance and dependency on the internet. The quote of Lewiss clearly shows the how society and individuals are willing to sacrifice and tolerate the status quo for the sake of increased convenience since the introduction of the information boom ââ¬â the internet. The examples of Lewiss clearly showcase the ââ¬Ëtermitesââ¬â¢ he is referring to. The internet had served its purpose of providing sufficient and added information with relative convenience among users. However, the unexpected consequences and subculture it creates often create discrepancies within the core of why it was created after all. These unexpected outcomes, instead of being reprimanded and stopped are being tolerated by society itself on the justification of freedom. It may be the case that people especially the older generations have underestimated the power that the Internet shall create in the future. Yes, the intention and objectives were in-line to the positive aspects. However, the younger generations are using it as a tool to further their cause which most of the time connotes something extraordinary or ââ¬Ëradicalââ¬â¢ in such manner. The most probable solution to such dilemma is creating and digging deep into the very foundations of why it was created in the first place. Then propose solutions that can help the process without compromising convenience brought about by the Internet. To conclude, the Internet and information boom has created several unexpected outcomes that in a way society tolerates. There must a consensus among different groups and societies in combating this issue. The internet was meant to be used in such a way that it will create convenience among individuals. It might be good sticking to that objective and nothing else.
